How It Works: Onsite Organizing

Vermont organizing servicesCurious about how the onsite organizing process works?
  1. We start with a free phone consultation to answer your questions, tell you a bit about the process, and determine if we are a good match for each other.
  2. Following that, we can schedule an in-home needs assessment. During this 60-minute session, we will take a look at the areas to be organized and listen to your concerns. We will talk about different ways to approach the project, determine your readiness to let go of clutter, and get to know each other. We will identify what’s holding you back from getting organized on your own. We will explore what’s going well and build on your strengths. Goal setting is an important part of this assessment. This time together is an investment of $100, which can be credited toward your first organizing session if you decide to work with us.
  3. If all goes well, we set a date to get started. Our hands-on organizing sessions have a three-hour session minimum. We work side by side with our clients, and all decisions are made by the clients. We won’t make you get rid of anything you don’t want to, but we will ask questions to help you make thoughtful decisions. During this time, we analyze and recommend new systems and offer space planning and product advice if needed.

The basic process of sorting, purging, containerizing, placement, and removing discards are customized to your needs. We will be respectful of your pace. There is a methodical way to sort and make decisions about your possessions.

You make all final decisions about what to release. For items that you no longer need, we can help create piles to donate, sell, responsibly recycle/repurpose, throw away, or give to family members if they are receptive to that option. We will recommend local donation pick-up options and will be happy to take one car load per visit to a local donation site upon request (with receipt provided).

At the end of the session, we can schedule our next appointment. Some of our clients pay session by session while others opt for a discounted, prepaid package. Your timeline and pace is carefully considered to make sure your goals are met. Rest assured, Get It Done LLC is insured and bonded.
